Cowell praises first single from Boyle

LONDON, July 4 (UPI) -- "Britain's Got Talent" judge Simon Cowell says the first recorded album track from Scottish singer Susan Boyle sounds "fantastic."

Cowell, whose team is working with the amateur singer, said Boyle would create an album that extends beyond the show tunes that garnered her fame on "Talent," People.com reported Saturday.

"She sounds fantastic on record," Cowell said. "She's so good, the album is not just going to be show tunes. We're going to take our time with this."

An insider at Sony Music said Boyle was not being pressured to complete the album in light of her hospitalization following her second-place finish on "Talent."

"There's no pressure on her to do this at all," the anonymous source told People magazine.

The 48-year-old singer's problems forced her to miss multiple shows on the "Talent" tour scheduled to run through July 5.
