Cat gains fame with unplanned TV set walk

LONDON, July 2 (UPI) -- The obvious question on last week's "Question Time" TV program in England was, "What's that cat doing walking around the set?"

The ginger tom cat casually strolled into the camera frame during shooting of the BBC talk show at a community college in Newquay, and became an instant celebrity, The Times of London reported Thursday.

Jackie Ellery, the owner of Tango, said she had no idea what her pet was up to until a neighbor called her, asking, "Have you seen your cat on the telly?"

Show host David Dimbleby and his panel were non-plussed despite being in the middle of discussing serious issues such as the wearing of burkas by Muslim women, the situation in Iran and Parliament's expenses scandal, and a stage manager quickly scooped up Tango and took him outside.

"It's lovely, he's a mischievous cat anyway," Ellery said. "He is just nosy. He must have seen lots of people in the car park and gone to look."

Besides his brief shot at national television, Tango also now can be seen on the Internet and is getting some fame on Twitter, as well.
