LOS ANGELES, June 30 (UPI) -- Redmond O'Neal, the jailed son of the late actress Farrah Fawcett, will be temporarily released Tuesday to attend her funeral, officials said.
An order issued Monday in Los Angeles County Superior Court grants O'Neal, 24, up to three hours out of jail on his sentence for drug charges to attend the funeral of his 62-year-old mother, who died Thursday after a three-year battle with a rare cancer, CNN reported.
Deputies arrested Redmond O'Neal late last year when a search of the Malibu, Calif., home of his father, actor Ryan O'Neal, turned up methamphetamine. At the time, the younger O'Neal was on probation for a 2008 felony drug conviction and is now undergoing drug rehabilitation at the Los Angeles County Jail, the U.S. broadcaster reported.
A publicist for Fawcett, whose appearances on the 1970s television show "Charlie's Angels" and best-selling posters made her a world-wide phenomenon, told CNN a private service will be held for her Tuesday at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles.
