NEW YORK, June 20 (UPI) -- Guitarist Stephen Stills thanked women and politicians for Crosby, Stills and Nash's induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in New York.

Stills was on hand at the hall of fame's 40th induction ceremony along with bandmates David Crosby and Graham Nash to receive the music industry honor, Rolling Stone magazine reported online Friday.

"I have to thank all the great women who dumped me and all the dumb politicians that did things that (inspired me) to write songs," Stills said at Thursday's ceremony.

Rockers Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora were also on hand to be inducted for their work together in the group Bon Jovi.

"If you write one song that comes across decades, you're lucky. If you write a body of them and you're recognized in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, it's prestigious," Jovi said prior to be honored.

Singer-songwriter Jason Mraz was awarded the Hal David Starlight Award and crooner Tom Jones earned a Howie Richmond Hitmaker Award.
