SALT LAKE CITY, June 18 (UPI) -- The father of Season 7 "American Idol" runner-up David Archuleta has pleaded no contest to charges he patronized a prostitute.

The no contest plea stems from James J. Archuleta's arrest at a Utah massage parlor last January.

The Salt Lake Tribune said Wednesday the case is likely to be dismissed at the end of this month if Archuleta doesn't repeat the offense. He reportedly has already paid a $582 fine and undergone a counseling class.

Investigators said they had been watching the massage parlor for several days after patients at a nearby doctor's office complained. The massage parlor was issued a summons for operating without a license and Archuleta a citation for solicitation of prostitution "because he was sexually gratified by one of the masseuse girls," the Tribune quoted police as saying.
