LOS ANGELES, June 17 (UPI) -- A source close to singer Britney Spears says rumors the U.S. pop star is engaged to her agent aren't true.

The Star tabloid newspaper reported that Jason Trawick proposed to Spears while the pair were on vacation in the Bahamas last month. The celebrity newspaper also claimed the recording artist is considering a December wedding.

"This is absolutely not true," an insider told Usmagazine.com. "Britney is not engaged."

Usmagazine.com said it was unable to reach Spears's publicist for a comment on the story.

Spears was previously married to Kevin Federline, the father of her two pre-school-age sons.
