NEW YORK, June 16 (UPI) -- Former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor has agreed to make her first visit to the "Late Show with David Letterman," CBS said.

O'Connor is to be a guest on the episode of "Late Show" slated to air June 23.

In 1981, she became the first woman appointed to the Supreme Court. She served as a justice on America's highest court until her retirement in 2006.

O'Connor also has written her fourth book and second children's title, "Finding Susie," which will be released in bookstores the same day as O'Connor's "Late Show" appearance, CBS said.
