'Jodhaa' wins big at Bollywood awards show

MACAU, China, June 15 (UPI) -- "Jodhaa Akbar" was named best picture at the seven-hour-long International Indian Film Academy Awards ceremony in Macau, China.

The movie about a Mughal king's love for a Hindu princess picked up a total of six prizes, including the best actor honor for Hrithik Roshan and the best director gong for Ashutosh Gowariker. The film also took the awards for best song lyrics, best music direction and best male playback singer, the BBC said.

Former Miss World Priyanka Chopra won the best actress title for her work in "Fashion," while Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was named actress of the decade.

Shah Rukh Khan was declared male star of the decade and Rakesh Rohan director of the decade.

Arjun Rampal won the best supporting actor trophy for his performance in "Rock On!!" and Kangana Ranaut won the best supporting actress award for her work in "Fashion."

Rajesh Khanna was also presented with a lifetime achievement award at the event, which about 8,000 people attended, the BBC said.

Organizers estimate about 500 million people around the world will see the IIFA awards ceremony when it is televised later this month.
