SPRINGFIELD, Mo., June 14 (UPI) -- Brad Pitt's brother Doug said the actor, his family and actress Angelina Jolie have donated $1 million to St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Mo.

Usmagazine.com said the money will help establish an endowment fund to pay children's cancer specialists. The donation will also help the hospital build a new pediatric unit, as well as double the size of its neonatal and pediatric intensive care units.

St. John's is matching the donation to help fund the expansion of the hospital's cancer treatment unit, which will be renamed the Jane Pitt Pediatric Cancer Center, in honor of Brad's mother, Usmagazine.com said.

Pitt and Jolie are the parents of six children.

The Pitt family is from Missouri.
