LOS ANGELES, June 13 (UPI) -- Singer Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers says famed singer Neil Diamond is one of the U.S. pop group's greatest influences.

Jonas, 19, said during an appearance on "Good Morning America" that the "Sweet Caroline" singer was a great influence on the pop group's forthcoming new album, "Lines, Vines and Trying Times," Parade magazine reported Friday.

"Neil Diamond was a big one for us. We actually did a charity event with him in this last year, and we played one of his songs and we got to meet him," Jonas said. "Everybody knows Neil Diamond, but once you get into it you're really into it."

Joe Jonas and his brothers, Kevin and Nick, performed in Central Park in New York as part of their "Good Morning" appearance Friday.

Parade magazine said Kevin Jonas also took time during the band's appearance on the ABC series to explain the concept of the trio's new album.

"Vines are the things on the path that are holding you back," he said. "This is a hopeful record... it's a lot of fun."
