LOS ANGELES, June 11 (UPI) -- Hip-hop star and actress Queen Latifah has signed on to serve as host of the BET Awards 2009 My Black is Beautiful Post Show in Los Angeles.
The event is slated to take place at the Shrine Auditorium June 28 at 11 p.m. ET/PT.
"My Black is Beautiful celebrates the diverse collective beauty of African-American women and encourages black women to define and promote their own beauty standard," BET Networks said in a news release. "The campaign brings to life an authentic reflection of African-American women's beauty by embracing Queen Latifah as the host of the My Black is Beautiful Post Show. The special will capture and recap the atmosphere, style and sexy of the night's festivities."
Queen Latifah will be joined by BET correspondents Tigger and Alesha Renee.
Queen Latifah is a Grammy Award-winning singer who also earned an Oscar nomination for her work in the movie musical, "Chicago." She was the star of the 1990s TV sit-com "Living Single," as well.
