LONDON, June 5 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Kevin Spacey has agreed to star in director Trevor Nunn's revival of "Inherit the Wind" at London's Old Vic theater.

Spacey -- who earned Oscars for his work in the films, "The Usual Suspects" and "American Beauty" -- is the artistic director of the Old Vic.

Variety.com said the theater company's production of "Inherit the Wind," Jerome Lawrence and Robert Edwin Lee's 1955 drama about the Scopes monkey trial, will begin performances in September. Spacey and Nunn previously collaborated on the Old Vic's 2005 staging of William Shakespeare's "Richard II."

The theater company is also planning a revival of John Guare's 1990 play, "Six Degrees of Separation," for its 2009-10 season, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
