Jay Leno ends 17 year run as host of "The Tonight Show" in Burbank, California

BURBANK, Calif., June 2 (UPI) -- "The Jay Leno Show," Leno's new U.S. prime time chat series, is scheduled to premiere on NBC Sept. 14, the network announced.

During his final bow as the 17-year host of "The Tonight Show" last Friday, Leno signed off by saying: "Thank you for watching. Please give Conan (O'Brien) as much support as you've given me throughout the years. Good night. We'll see you in September."

O'Brien began his stint as host of "The Tonight Show" Monday night.

NBC noted "The Jay Leno Show" will be the first entertainment program to be stripped across prime time on broadcast network television.
