TARZAN BROADWAY MUSICAL OPENS

NEW YORK, May 29 (UPI) -- Disney's musical "Tarzan" has completed its Holland engagement at the Circus Theatre in Scheveningen, just outside Amsterdam after 900 performances.

The production, which opened in April 2007 and wrapped last Sunday, was seen by 1.6 million audience members during its run, making it one of the most successful musicals in Holland, representatives for the show said in a news release.

Based on the story "Tarzan of the Apes" by Edgar Rice Burroughs and the Disney animated film, "Tarzan," the stage show, like the movie, features music and lyrics by Phil Collins.

The stage adaptation in Holland was co-presented by Stage Entertainment, Disney's licensed partner in Europe.

Disney and Cameron Mackintosh's "Mary Poppins" is slated to move into the Circus Theatre in April 2010 for an extended run.
