NEW YORK, May 27 (UPI) -- Film actress Anne Hathaway will star in a New York stage production of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night," the Public Theater said on its Web site.
Hathaway, whose first claim to fame was as the heroine in the "Princess Diaries" movies, was nominated for an Oscar for the 2008 film "Rachel Getting Married."
The Public Theater said she is to play Viola in a Shakespeare in the Park production of the comedy "Twelfth Night" to be directed by Daniel Sullivan and to run from June 10 through July 12.
The show will co-star Raul Esparza, Audra McDonald and Jay O. Sanders.
The BBC said "Capote" and "Doubt" star Philip Seymour Hoffman has signed on to play the villain Iago in the Public Theater's co-production with New York University of Shakespeare's tragedy "Othello." The play is scheduled to begin performances Sept. 12.
