CANNES, France, May 18 (UPI) -- Director Robert Zemeckis and actors Jim Carrey and Colin Firth were in Cannes Monday to promote their upcoming film "Disney's A Christmas Carol."

The 3D re-imagining of Charles Dickens' classic tale is to open in theaters Nov. 6. It stars Carrey as Ebenezer Scrooge, Gary Oldman as his clerk and Firth as his nephew.

"Ebenezer Scrooge begins the Christmas holiday with his usual miserly contempt, barking at his faithful clerk and his cheery nephew," Disney said in a news release. "But when the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come take him on an eye-opening journey revealing truths Old Scrooge is reluctant to face, he must open his heart to undo years of ill will before it's too late."

Zemeckis, Carrey and Firth posed for photos and talked to reporters about the film Monday. Clips from the forthcoming computer-animated, motion-capture movie were also screened.
