NEW YORK, May 13 (UPI) -- Kings of Leon have signed up to perform at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards show in Universal City, Calif., MTV said Wednesday.

The rock group's May 31 appearance at the Gibson Amphitheatre will mark their first live performance on MTV, the network said.

The band is expected to perform their rock anthem "Use Somebody" from their hit album "Only By the Night" during the show for which actor-comedian Andy Samberg is to serve as host.

Following the MTV Movie Awards, Kings of Leon will be playing festivals worldwide all summer and into the fall, including headlining slots at Lollapalooza in Chicago and the Austin Limits City Festival. They are now wrapping up their first U.S. arena tour.

The MTV Movie Awards show will also feature a musical performance by Eminem who will sing a track from his latest album "Relapse," which is due out next week, MTV said.

Denzel Washington, Cameron Diaz, Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, Vanessa Hudgens, Leighton Meester, Jonah Hill and Lil Wayne were recently announced as part of the lineup of presenters for the televised prize presentation.
