CHICAGO, May 13 (UPI) -- Internet sensation and "Britain's Got Talent" contender Susan Boyle says she is loving her newfound fame.

Boyle, a 48-year-old aspiring singer from Scotland, appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" via satellite this week.

Usmagazine.com said Boyle revealed on the show she was pleasantly surprised by the attention she is getting from the media and well-wishers, some of whom have even written fan letters to her cat Pebbles.

"It all takes a bit of time to take in. I mean, these things have happened so quickly. It's pretty awesome," Boyle told Winfrey.

"I think change is always very hard to come by at first, but I'm really enjoying it and really enjoying every second of it," she added. "It's like a dream come true."

Boyle downplayed the buzz she received when she adopted a more polished look than she sported for her "Talent" debut last month, however.

"My best friend actually helps me with my makeup. You know, I mean, that's hardly a makeover," the singer said, adding she had her hair dyed darker "just to tidy myself up, like any other female would have done."
