LOS ANGELES, May 13 (UPI) -- U.S. film icon Al Pacino is in talks to star in a big-screen adaptation of Malcolm Gladwell's nonfiction book "Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking."

The Hollywood Reporter said "Traffic" scribe and "Syriana" writer-director Stephen Gaghan penned the "Blink" screenplay and plans to direct the New York-set story about a financier who reconnects with a teacher son to whom he was never close.

The younger man has a gift for sizing up people and situations accurately and quickly, an attribute his father seeks to use for his own financial advantage, as well as to help his son find himself, the entertainment industry trade newspaper said.
