Hundreds of 'Trek' screenings sold out

"Star Trek" premiere held in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES, May 6 (UPI) -- "Star Trek" accounted for 83 percent of advance U.S. theater ticket sales at MovieTickets.com Wednesday, the Web site said.

As of noon, MovieTickets.com reported 387 sold-out screenings of the eagerly awaited origins movie, which opens in some U.S. theaters Thursday night ahead of its official Friday opening.

"Star Trek" stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Winona Ryder and Eric Bana. It tells the story of the early days of the crew of the Starship Enterprise.
