NBC unveils 2009-10 programming slate

NEW YORK, May 4 (UPI) -- NBC said Monday it has picked up four new dramas and two comedies for its 2009-10 television season.

The upcoming slate includes a small-screen remake of the movie "Parenthood" with a cast that includes Peter Krause, Maura Tierney, Craig T. Nelson, Dax Shepard, Bonnie Bedelia, Monica Potter, Erika Christensen and Sarah Ramos.

Also on the schedule are the new medical dramas "Trauma," starring Derek Luke and Jamey Sheridan, and "Mercy," starring James Tupper, Taylor Schilling, Jamie Lee Kirchner and Michelle Trachtenberg.

"100 Questions" is a new comedy series that promises "hilarious answers to 100 questions about love" and stars Sophie Winkleman, Amir Talai, Elizabeth Ho and

Christopher Moynihan.

"Community" is a sit-com set in a community college and starring Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi and Alison Brie.

NBC also said it has renewed "Heroes," "Southland" and "Parks and Recreation," as well as ordered six new episodes of "Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday."

The new and returning series will begin airing next season and the epic miniseries "Day One" -- about a group of people who survive a cataclysmic event -- is slated to premiere during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

Previously announced series pickups include "The Jay Leno Show," "The Office," "30 Rock," "The Biggest Loser," "The Celebrity Apprentice," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Friday Night Lights," and the new alternative series "The Marriage Ref," "Breakthrough with Tony Robbins" and "Who Do You Think You Are?"

Additional series pickups will be announced May 19, NBC said.
