NEW YORK, May 4 (UPI) -- A Ferrari used in an action sequence for Nicolas Cage's movie "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" jumped a New York curb, hit a pedestrian and knocked over a lamppost.

"Access Hollywood" said the falling lamppost injured a second person in Manhattan's Times Square early Monday morning during a filmed car chase between a black Ferrari and a silver Mercedes.

"A stunt driver lost control of his car and hydroplaned onto the sidewalk. Members of the New York Police Department Movie/TV Unit were on site, as well as 16 traffic agents. Two pedestrians were injured and taken to the hospital," a representative for the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting said in a statement. "A communications pole, newspaper box, and a Sbarro's (restaurant) window were damaged."

Plans called for the production to shoot on 7th Avenue again Monday night and Tuesday night, weather permitting. The statement by the mayor's office said the scene would "not be allowed to take place" if it rained or conditions were otherwise unsafe.
