BOSTON, May 2 (UPI) -- Jay Severin, a talk show host for Boston's WTKK-FM radio station, has been suspended for making questionable comments on the air, a station spokeswoman says.
WTKK spokeswoman Heidi Raphael said the right wing talk show host was suspended indefinitely as a result of unspecified comments he made in the wake of the swine flu outbreak in Mexico, The Boston Globe reported Friday.
"I can assure you that the station has not been using the remarks for which he has been suspended in on-air promos," Raphael said of Thursday's suspension.
The suspension may be related to questionable comments Severin made while talking about the swine flu epidemic's reported origins in Mexico.
"So now, in addition to venereal disease and the other leading exports of Mexico -- women with mustaches and VD -- now we have swine flu," Severin said on-air this week.
Severin's lawyer, George Tobia, told the Globe the radio host is "dealing" with the suspension.
"All we know is it's indefinite," Tobia said. "We're just learning of it, and we're dealing with it."
