LONDON, May 1 (UPI) -- The British rock group Coldplay says it will give away free copies of a new live CD at most of its remaining live shows in 2009.
The disc, entitled "LeftRightLeftRightLeft," will be distributed free to attendees at all the band's shows, except festival venues, starting with its first North American tour date at West Palm Beach, Fla., on May 15, Coldplay said on its Web site Friday.
The nine-track CD, which was recorded at various cities around the world while touring for their "Vida La Vida" album, will also be available as a free download on the Coldplay Web site starting the same day.
In a statement, the band said the gesture is meant as a "recession-busting mark of gratitude" to their fans, adding, "Playing live is what we love. This album is a thank you to our fans -- the people who give us a reason to do it and make it happen."
