LOS ANGELES, April 28 (UPI) -- U.S. actor Don Johnson has been cast in the big-screen comedy "Born to be a Star," co-starring Christina Ricci, Stephen Dorff and Edward Herrmann.

The Hollywood Reporter said Johnson, best known for his roles on TV's "Nash Bridges" and "Miami Vice," will play a down-on-his-luck adult film director in "Star."

Produced by Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo, the movie is about a small-town guy, played by Nick Swardson, who learns his unassuming parents were famous porn stars in the 1970s and decides to resume the family business.

Sandler also co-wrote the flick with Swardson.
