CANNES, France, April 24 (UPI) -- "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus," the late Australian actor Heath Ledger's last movie, will be screened at the Cannes Film Festival, organizers said.
Ledger had been working on the movie at the time of his death of an accidental prescription drug overdose in January 2008. He was 28.
The BBC said director Terry Gilliam's fantasy picture -- for which Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell all helped complete Ledger's unfinished role -- will premiere out of competition, as will the Disney Pixar animated tale "Up."
Quentin Tarantino's eagerly awaited "Inglourious Basterds" is one of 20 contenders for the festival's highest honor, the Palme d'Or.
Also in the running for the event's top prize are the latest offerings from Ken Loach, Ang Lee, Pedro Almodovar, Lars von Trier, Johnnie To, Michael Haneke, Gaspar Noe and Jane Campion, the BBC said.
The 62nd festival is slated to run from May 13-24.
