NEW YORK, April 21 (UPI) -- U.S. actress and TV personality Whoopi Goldberg says Patrick Swayze, who has been battling pancreatic cancer for more than a year, remains busy and optimistic.

Goldberg and Swayze co-starred together with Demi Moore in the 1990 supernatural romance "Ghost."

"He's kicking butt," Goldberg told Usmagazine.com Monday. "And, you know, he's sick. And he, like the rest of us, doesn't know when it's going to happen -- because it will happen, that he is going to go -- but he doesn't know when or where. ... His attitude is, why wait for it to happen? So he's busy as hell."

Swayze, whose film credits include "The Outsiders," "Road House," "Dirty Dancing" and "Point Break," recently wrapped the first season of his TV cop drama "The Beast." Because of Swayze's health, it is unclear whether the show will be picked up for a second season, Usmagazine.com said. The 56-year-old actor is currently writing his memoirs.
