LONDON, April 15 (UPI) -- Russian pop star Oksana Pochepa says she has been having a serious romantic relationship with married actor-director Mel Gibson.

Gibson's wife, Robyn, filed for divorce Monday after 28 years of marriage. The couple, who have seven children together, reportedly separated more than two years ago.

Pochepa, 24, said she has fallen in love with Mel Gibson, 53, after meeting him last summer when she was hired to compose a song for Gibson's upcoming movie "Edge of Darkness," Usmagazine.com said.

The singer told Britain's The Sun newspaper that she was the woman photographed kissing Gibson on a Costa Rican beach last month.

"This is serious and I hope that our union will be real and strong and long-lasting," Pochepa is quoted as telling The Sun Tuesday.

A source on the set of "Darkness" told Usmagazine.com that Gibson and Pochepa spent considerable time alone together in his trailer.

"They would come out and attempt to walk around separately, but then at the end of the day, they both returned to the same hotel," the insider said. "She was there on and off for a week, but it was clear she had no business there other than to be with Mel."
