LOS ANGELES, April 13 (UPI) -- Adult film star Marilyn Chambers has been found dead at the age of 56 in her Canyon Country, Calif., home, officials said.
The Rhode Island native is best known for her starring roles in X-rated movies like "Behind the Green Door." She also had a hit with the disco song "Benihana" in 1976, appeared in the mainstream horror flick "Rabid" in 1977, and ran for U.S. vice president in 2004 on the Personal Choice Party ticket.
The former Ivory Snow detergent model whose real name was Marilyn Ann Taylor was found unresponsive Sunday night, Los Angeles County coroner's spokesman Ed Winter told the Los Angeles Times.
The cause of her death was under investigation but homicide isn't suspected and an autopsy is expected to be conducted.
The thrice-married actress is survived by a daughter, McKenna Marie Taylor, who was born in 1991.
