LOS ANGELES, April 13 (UPI) -- U.S. actor William Hurt has been cast in director Ridley Scott's upcoming movie version of the Robin Hood tale, starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett.

The Hollywood Reporter said Hurt will play Earl of Pembroke William Marshall, a servant to the Plantagenet kings and one of the best jousters of his time.

Shooting on the as-yet-untitled Robin Hood adventure recently began in England.

Hurt's film credits include "A History of Violence," "The Incredible Hulk," "Into the Wild," "The Village" and "The Big Chill."
