'Life' to close Tribeca film fest

NEW YORK, April 10 (UPI) -- "My Life in Ruins," starring Nia Vardalos and Richard Dreyfuss, will be the closing night selection at New York's Tribeca Film Festival, organizers said.

The special presentation screening is slated for May 2. Several cast members are expected to attend.

Directed by Donald Petrie and written by Mike Reiss, the film co-stars Maria Adanez, Sheila Bernette, Maria Botto, Rachel Dratch, Alexis Georgoulis, Ralph Nossek, Bernice Stegers and Harland Williams. It is set to open in U.S. theaters June 5.

"This year's festival has a number of fun and light-hearted films for our audience to enjoy. We are delighted to bring them another crowd-pleasing film, 'My Life in Ruins,' to celebrate our closing night," Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of the festival, said in a statement.

"We are excited and thrilled that 'My Life In Ruins' is receiving the honor of being the closing night event at the Tribeca Fest," added Petrie. "I can't think of a better launching pad for our film."
