NEW YORK, April 10 (UPI) -- U.S. television actress and breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate was photographed smoking as she walked down a Los Angeles street this week.
Applegate, who is known for her roles in the TV comedies "Married with Children" and "Samanatha Who?," underwent a double mastectomy and was declared cancer-free last year. She has since been a vocal spokeswoman for cancer causes.
The New York Daily News ran the photo of her smoking a cigarette, as well as a poll on its Web site that asked readers to describe their reaction to it as one of the following: "She's a hypocrite! She stumps publicly for cancer causes -- and funds;" "She's an adult and it's her choice. Leave her alone;" and "It's not my place to judge." As of 2 p.m. Friday, 48 percent of those responding to the poll said, "Leave her alone;" 28 percent said, "It's not my place to judge" and 24 percent said, "She's a hypocrite."
The newspaper didn't say how many people responded to the question.
