"AMERICAN IDOL" AUDITION IN LOS ANGELES

LOS ANGELES, April 9 (UPI) -- Scott MacIntyre, the show's first blind contestant, was eliminated from "American Idol," Wednesday night.

Seven singers remain on the popular television competition series, which featured guest performances by Frankie Avalon, Kellie Pickler and Flo Rida on its most recent episode.

"You've been an inspiration to the world," judge Paula Abdul told MacIntyre as he made his exit, following an encore performance of "The Search is Over," which he also sang on Tuesday night's show.
