NEW YORK, April 7 (UPI) -- "Here and There," a movie featuring pop star Cyndi Lauper, is to have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York this month.

Co-starring David Thornton, Mirjana Karanovic, Branislav Trifunovic, Jelena Mrdja, Antone Pagan and Max King, the film has been entered in the festival's narrative competition, representatives for the movie said.

Written and directed by Darko Lungulov, "Here and There" is about a jaded middle-aged New Yorker, who goes to Serbia to make some money by marrying someone for U.S. immigration papers. However, the plan goes awry when the promised cash never arrives. At the same time, a young Serbian immigrant is in New York, desperately trying to bring his girlfriend from Serbia to America, a synopsis of the film said.

Lauper has previously acted in the movies "Vibes" and "The Opportunists." She won an Emmy for her appearance on the TV sit-com "Mad About You."
