NEW YORK, April 3 (UPI) -- Open casting calls for the leads in the stage musical "Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark" have been scheduled in several U.S. cities, show representatives said.

The musical, which is being directed by Julie Taymor and will feature music by Bono and The Edge, is to open on Broadway Feb. 18, 2010.

The creative team behind the show said it is having open auditions starting next week for performers and understudies for the roles of Peter Parker, Mary Jane and an unnamed female lead villain in Orlando, Fla.; New York; Los Angeles; Seattle, Chicago; and Austin, Texas.

"The production is looking for performers with dynamic rock/pop voices including those with experience in bands and as solo performers," a news release from the production said. "Regardless of experience, anyone who thinks they might be qualified is encouraged to audition."

The dates and locations of the auditions can be found at www.SpidermanOnBroadway.com.
