NEW YORK, March 30 (UPI) -- Sci Fi Channel said "Continuum," the latest entry in the "Stargate" franchise, is to debut this week.

Written by Brad Wright, directed by Martin Wood and starring Ben Browder, Amanda Tapping, Christopher Judge, Michael Shanks, Beau Bridges, Claudia Black, Richard Dean Anderson, Cliff Simon, Don S. Davis and William Devane, the film is to premiere Friday.

Sci Fi described the TV movie as "an adrenaline-driven, action-adventure film that has members of 'SG-1' returning to a world where their history has been dramatically altered."

"The most northern filmed movie production in history, 'Stargate: Continuum' features incredible visual effects, out-of-this-world battle sequences and breathtaking scenes shot on the Arctic ice," the network said in a news release. "The film finds Ba'al as he travels back in time and tries to prevent the Stargate program from ever being started. The SG-1 team must somehow restore history and once again save the galaxy from oppressive domination."
