NEW HAVEN, Conn., March 29 (UPI) -- Jordana Brewster says she is happy with her decision to halt her acting career to obtain a degree at Connecticut's Yale University.

Brewster, 28, said earning an English degree from the Ivy League school in New Haven following her success in 2001's "The Fast and the Furious" primed her for anther Hollywood run, The Hartford (Conn.) Courant reported Sunday.

"I feel like I'm taking it now in a better way than I would have when I was 22 or 20 and not having as good a head on my shoulders," she said.

Brewster will back up on the big screen in another installment of "Fast and Furious" in which she resumes her role as Mia Toretto. The movie opens Friday.

The degree-earning actress told the Courant that reuniting with "Furious" co-stars Vin Diesel and Paul Walker should help her jump-start her film career.

"It's really important," she said of the action film. "In terms of making smaller independent movies, they have to get financed by overseas buyers. That's based on how bankable you are and how many popcorn movies you have done."
