OLATHE , Kan., March 27 (UPI) -- Former teen idol Willie Aames had a garage sale at his Kansas home this week to raise money to pay off debts, E! Online said Friday.
Aames, 48, is best known for his roles on TV's "Eight is Enough," "Charles in Charge" and "Celebrity Fit Club."
Sold at Thursday's sale were autographed photos, posters and other TV and movie memorabilia from his glory days, E! Online said, adding that a camera crew was on hand to tape the event.
The Kansas City (Mo.). Star reported that Aames also parted with a leather couch, artwork, a piano, a lion head mounted on an oak pedestal, stuffed wild boars and a TV.
Aames struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for 20 years and became a born-again Christian and ordained minister during the 1990s. He also starred in his own Christian-themed Bibleman videos.
He made headlines last year when he attempted to commit suicide after declaring bankruptcy and being left by his wife of 22 years, E! Online said.
His home reportedly is now in foreclosure.
