LOS ANGELES, March 23 (UPI) -- U.S. comedienne Roseanne Barr is working with "Roseanne" producer Caryn Mandabach to create a new family comedy show in which she would play the matriarch.

The Hollywood Reporter said "Arrested Development" scribe Jim Vallely has signed on to write the script for the primetime series, which has been pitched to Fox.

Vallely would executive produce the possible series with Mandabach, Maggie Rowe and Barr.

Barr's beloved sit-com about a blue-collar Illinois family ended its nine-year run in 1997.

Since then, the 56-year-old funny woman has performed stand-up comedy live, and starred in a syndicated talk show and a reality series.
