LOS ANGELES, March 22 (UPI) -- Three new movies -- "Knowing," "I Love You, Man" and "Duplicity" -- were Nos. 1-3 in U.S. movie theaters this weekend, Box Office Mojo said Sunday.
"Knowing," the Nicolas Cage mystery drama, claimed No. 1 with estimated ticket sales of $24.8 million. "I Love You, Man," a romantic comedy co-written and directed by John Hamburg, was No. 2 with $18 million. "Duplicity," a crime thriller starring Julia Roberts, and written and directed by Tony Gilroy, came in at No. 3 with $14.4 million.
"Race to Witch Mountain" fell all the way from No. 1 to No. 4 with $13 million in estimated gate receipts and "Watchmen," last week's No. 2 film, was No. 5 with $6.73 million.
Filling out the top 10 were "The Last House on the Left" at $5.92 million, "Taken" at $4.1 million, "Slumdog Millionaire" at $2.7 million (in its 19th week in the theaters), "Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail" at $2.51 million and "Coraline" at $2.14 million.
The three new offerings pushed "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" out of the top tier in its 10th week. Also gone are "He's Just Not That Into You" and "Miss March."
