LOS ANGELES, March 19 (UPI) -- U.S. actress Heather Locklear has opted not to appear in the updated version of her 1990s TV series "Melrose Place," a source says.

EW.com reported that Locklear, who played vixen Amanda Woodward on the original show, has declined to take a role on the revamped "Melrose."

"There wasn't a way to bring her back that made sense," a source close to the situation told the entertainment news Web site.

EW.com said Locklear's representatives confirmed she turned down an offer to appear on The CW show, which is set to start airing this fall with a cast that includes Ashlee Simpson-Wentz, Jessica Lucas, Michael Rady and Katie Cassidy.
