West charged in paparazzi fracas

LOS ANGELES, March 18 (UPI) -- Hip-hop artist Kanye West was charged Wednesday in Los Angeles with misdemeanor vandalism, battery and grand theft in a paparazzi incident, officials said.

The Los Angeles City Attorney's office told People.com the charges against the 31-year-old performer pertain to an alleged altercation between West, his road manager and paparazzi at Los Angeles International Airport on Sept. 11, 2008.

The rapper is set to be arraigned April 14.

West's road manager, Don Crawley, has been hit with two counts each of the same charges as West, People.com said.
