LONDON, March 15 (UPI) -- The movie "The Young Victoria," about the late British royal, Queen Victoria, has a major historical inaccuracy, Queen Elizabeth II says.
An unidentified source said Queen Elizabeth II felt the film from director Jean-Marc Vallee and screenwriter Julian Fellowes went overboard in portraying Victoria's husband, Prince Albert, as trying to save her from an assassin's bullet, The Daily Telegraph reported Sunday.
"She thought the film had a lot of good points but she is a stickler for accuracy. She wasn't too impressed they had Albert diving in front of Victoria to take the bullet in an assassination attempt," the source said.
"It simply did not happen and her majesty questioned the need for such a dramatic inaccuracy. She also thought the uniforms worn by the British officers looked too Germanic."
Fellowes downplayed such criticisms, telling the Telegraph the key to the movie should be if it entertains the viewer.
"The question people ask themselves is: 'Is the movie good or is it not good?' That's the point," he said. "This is not something that will concern ordinary people."
