

NEW YORK, March 15 (UPI) -- U.S. rapper Lil' Kim currently owes nearly $1 million in state and federal tax liens in California, New York and New Jersey, records show.
SOHH.com reported Saturday the "Lighters Up" rapper owes $979,090, including $833,000 worth of liens filed by the IRS in New Jersey, because of 2004 tax problems.
The remaining tax debt includes a $4,089 lien filed by the state of California, $129,410 worth of liens filed by the state of New Jersey and a $12,599 tax warrant filed by the state of New York.
Lil' Kim, whose real name is Kimberly Denise Jones, also missed payment on her Bentley automobile and has been sued by Simon & Schuster, Inc. over an financial advance for a book, records show.
A spokesman for the rapper said Jones, who is currently appearing on "Dancing with the Stars," is working to pay off her debt, SOHH.com said.
"Lil' Kim is paying her tax debt and will continue to do so," spokeswoman Lisa Perkins said.
