Injured Jewel to sing on 'DWTS'

LOS ANGELES, March 12 (UPI) -- Jewel, who injured her knees while training for this season's "Dancing with the Stars," has agreed to sing on the U.S. dance show, ABC said Thursday.

The recording artist, who was forced to drop out before the show started, is slated to sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on Tuesday's Season 8 premiere of "Dancing with the Stars: The Results Show," during which the first couple of the season will be eliminated from the competition, the network said.

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is also set to perform on the episode, which follows two performance installments of "Dancing with the Stars," ABC said.

Competing this season for the coveted mirrorball trophy are Belinda Carlisle, lead singer of the Go-Go's, and partner Jonathan Roberts; comedian/actor David Alan Grier and partner Kym Johnson; Olympic gymnastics medalist Shawn Johnson and partner Mark Ballas; rapper Lil' Kim and partner Derek Hough; reality television star Holly Madison and partner Dmitry Chaplin; model/actor Gilles Marini and partner Cheryl Burke; and rodeo cowboy Ty Murray and partner Chelsie Hightower.

The lineup also includes "Jackass" star Steve-O and partner Lacey Schwimmer; actress Denise Richards and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy; "The Bachelor" star Melissa Rycroft and partner Tony Dovolani; pro football player Lawrence Taylor and partner Edyta Sliwinska; country music star Chuck Wicks and partner Julianne Hough; and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak and partner Karina Smirnoff.
