The New York Post said the 6-foot former model and one-time marathon runner allegedly gave her 10-years-younger boyfriend, Nick Stefanov, a black eye, a bloody gash on his cheek and a fat lip during a heated argument at her Manhattan apartment.

Stefanov, 30, reported the alleged incident to police last week, and Bensimon surrendered two days later. She was charged with misdemeanor third-degree assault and is scheduled to be arraigned March 31.

"We got engaged a couple weeks ago," the Post quoted Stefanov as telling a friend. "We got into an argument that escalated and escalated. She hauled off and started swinging. She got a lucky punch on my cheekbone and just split it right open. I went down to the police station covered in blood."

Stefanov reportedly returned to his hometown of Pittsburgh because he didn't want to be seen around New York with an injured face.

"If I had done it to her, I would have been put in jail immediately," Stefanov is said to have told his friend. "My injuries are worse than Rihanna's -- and Chris Brown was charged with two felonies."

Stefanov and Bensimon, 40, have been together nearly four years.

Bensimon's attorney, Stephen Turano, described the charges against his client as "unfounded."

Hargitay undergoes another operation

NEW YORK, March 10 (UPI) -- U.S. television actress Mariska Hargitay has undergone another operation to treat complications from the collapsed lung she suffered in January, NBC said.

"She is feeling better and should be back in a couple of weeks," a representative for the network told E! News about the 45-year-old star of "Law & Order: SVU."

Hargitay was hospitalized last week after complaining of chest pains. Her publicist said at the time the hospitalization was related to her previous condition.

EW.com said that even though Hargitay will be resting for the foreseeable future, she is expected to miss starring in only one episode of her show.

ANAHEIM, Calif., March 10 (UPI) -- U.S. comedian Jimmy Kimmel dressed up as former chat show moderator Rosie O'Donnell when he stopped by "The View" set Monday.

The late-night talk show host showed up in a blouse, clogs and a wig for his guest appearance on "The View's" live broadcast from Walt Disney World in Anaheim, Calif., People.com reported.

"Who are you supposed to be?" panelist Joy Behar wondered aloud.

"I think you know who I'm supposed to be," Kimmel said. "Things ended abruptly with Rosie and I wanted to give you ladies a chance to say goodbye."

"View" co-host Sherri Shepherd also grilled Kimmel about his recent second split from his longtime girlfriend, Sarah Silverman.

"The only thing better than breaking up is going on 'The View' right after you break up," Kimmel said. "It's really (like) living a dream."

Pressed to reveal what went wrong with his relationship, Kimmel quipped: "What do you mean, what happened? Look at me. What do you think happened? I'm a 41-year-old man with a bra filled with Koosh balls. I'm an imbecile. She couldn't date an imbecile anymore."

So does that mean there's no chance of another reconciliation?

"I don't know, ask her," People.com said he replied.
