LOS ANGELES, March 7 (UPI) -- British pop star M.I.A. says in an online posting that rumors she has named her newborn son Ickitt are untrue.

People.com reported Friday the "Sunshowers" singer said on her MySpace celebrity page that her 3-week-old son and his name should not be the subject of media reports.

"My baby is not called Ickitt, Pickit or Lickit thank you very much," M.I.A. wrote in her online posting. "He's a baby, he don't need press!"

The 31-year-old singer suggested members of the media divert their attention to other uniquely named children of celebrities until she offers her fans additional information.

"Till then go pick on Apple, Satchel and Moon Unit," she said, referring to the children of singer Chris Martin, director Spike Lee and rocker Frank Zappa respectively.

People.com said M.I.A., whose real name is Mathangi Arulpragasam, gave birth Feb. 11. Arulpragasam is engaged to musician Benjamin Bronfman.
