LOS ANGELES, March 6 (UPI) -- Rapper and TV personality Coolio was arrested Friday at Los Angeles International Airport for alleged possession of crack cocaine, TMZ reported.

The recording artist, whose real name is Artis Leon Ivey, Jr., reportedly was attempting to board a Southwest Airlines flight to Tulsa, Ok., where he was slated to perform with Tone Loc and Shock G of The Digital Underground when airport security allegedly discovered he had crack cocaine on his person.

Sources close to the situation told TMZ the rapper also became abusive to the security screener at some point during the incident and was arrested by LAX police.

The performer is best known for his song "Gangsta's Paradise," and for his work on the reality TV shows "Coolio's Rules" and "Celebrity Big Brother 2009."
