Girl group plays iPhones, not instruments

LONDON, March 6 (UPI) -- The British girl group The Mentalists, used iPhones instead of musical instruments to perform a cover version of the song "Kids," The Telegraph said.

The unsigned artists downloaded music software from the iTunes application store onto their iPhones and iPod touches, and then used the devices to simulate the sounds created by guitars, drums and synthesizers.

The Telegraph said Friday The Mentalists' YouTube music video for the song has already gotten more than 115,000 hits.

The group reportedly has set up its own label and has released a single through the iTunes Music Store.
