WASHINGTON, March 5 (UPI) -- Film star Brad Pitt was on Capitol Hill Thursday to lobby the U.S. Congress for support for his Make It Right low-income housing project.
The goal of the project, which was established in 2007, is to provide affordable, environmentally sustainable housing for residents of the lower 9th Ward in New Orleans who lost their homes in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.
The Hill reported on its Web site that Pitt met with Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., as well as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., Thursday to talk about his efforts in New Orleans.
"It went very well," Pitt told The Hill of his meeting with Murray. "We were talking about the rebuilding efforts."
Pressed to divulge how his session with Pelosi went, the Oscar-nominated actor said, "I'd rather not say."
Asked what he thinks about the Capitol and its lawmakers, Pitt replied, "It's an honor to be here."
